How many Scientific Breakthroughs came from dabbling with that nasty spooky stuff?

This is a short story I wish to share.
Its about how that nasty spooky paranormal stuff can lead to ground breaking invention.

Its about a young boy called Hans.
Hans was to become a doctor just like his father but Hans was more interested in astronomy and poetry so he went to a big city to attend University to become an astronomer.
The big city didn't suit him so he took off a year and joined the cavalry.
Even though it was a time of peace he relished the hard training and being with the horses.
One day as he was out riding his horse suddenly reared up and Hans was tossed in the air and landed hard on the road in the path of a fast approaching horse draw cannon.
Hans thought, that at that moment, he was going to die but somehow the carriage missed him and, although greatly shaken, he was safe.
At the very same moment far away Han's sister felt an overwhelming anxiety that something had just happened to her brother and pestered her father to make immediate contact by sending a telegram to find out whether Hans was alright.
That evening Han's got the telegram and was amazed.
He knew that his sister had experienced spontaneous telepathy.
This event changed Han's interests forever.
Instead of exploring the depths of space he started to explore the depths of the mind.

He focused on learning medicine and understand psychic energy and telepathy.
After years of working mostly on his own Hans developed a method of recording human brain waves.
Initially these waves were called "Berger rhythms" after Han's last name.
Now this is called an electroencephalogram or EEG.
Ahh!!!

So because of this machine Hans could finally establish that electrical activity in the brain correlated with different brain states.
Hans conducted lots of tests for telepathy on over 200 participants.
In the end Han's still couldn't explain his sister's experience but he did help establish the foundations of neuroscience.
Han's was poo pooed for his work in his lifetime - his peers felt he was an amateur and tragically after a long illness and a painful skin condition he committed suicide in 1941.
So the invention of EEG was sparked by a telepathic experience.
Who would have thought that science and psi could benefit each other!!!

We were given the opportunity of staying overnight at the Wallachia Hotel in Western Sydney. The hotelwas officially opened on December 3rd 1937. Lemon Tree Passage Ghost - Local legend is alive and well

The Ghosts of Prince Henry Hospital and Little Bay

I am a ghost hunter. I explore and research and love to find myself being excited by stories of ghosts and haunted sights. Each story has its place in our collective consciousness and deserves to be heard and felt.
