Staying passionate when the world thinks you're crazy.

Sometimes, when your passion is something a little less conventional, like lets say...paranormal investigating.. it can be hard to remain passionate in the face of criticism, ridicule and partners who may be telling you to "get a grip" on reality.

Sometimes you can start to believe that you are not chasing ghosts but your own shadow, spending hours away from home, buying equipment that sparkles and shines only to realise that other people in other teams have more sparklier and shinier equipment - or worse still...nicer looking T shirts and logos!

So thats when you have to REMIND yourself of why you are doing all of this - what led you down this path in the first place?
Was it really to impress other people in a jazzy T shirt with the newest piece of equipment or was it because you had a burning question about the mysteries of life that just needed to be answered.
Remember to:
Keep grounded and remember that this world is the one where you currently keep your stuff, therefore it ALWAYS takes first priority over any other world that might appear more interesting. Don't let the world of ghosts take over.

Smile at those that may scoff at your "funny" hobby.
Be serious and use the best equipment that you can afford but dont spend next week's grocery money on that new camera if it means you cant pay your bills.
Libraries are free the last time I was there, and that was only last week - so borrow books.
Buy second hand books or download articles and follow your favorite writers and make yourself knowledgeable about your favorite subjects.
Stay open minded.
The worst things is to be inflexible when new information arises that can ADD to your knowledge.
Dont dismiss it just because it doesnt fit with your preconceived beliefs.

Sometimes you need to take a break
Sometimes you might need to step back..even if its just to look back and see how far you have come.
But always question..why am I doing this?
Do I still get pleasure out of it.
I am enjoying the experience and meeting people that add value to my life?
If you are then keep it up and enjoy it.
Dont be afraid to be passionate about what brings you joy, even if everyone else might think you are slightly crazy.
The world needs more passionate people.
Renata.

Lemon Tree Passage Ghost - Local legend is alive and well

Lemon Tree Passage  is a suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, located at the end of the Tilligerry Peninsula and surrounded by the waters of beautiful Port Stephens .  Ever since I can remember there have been a few urban legends about a stretch of highway named Lemon Tree Passage Road. The story begins when a motor bike rider and his pillion passenger died after colliding with a four wheel drive killing both. This seems to be the source of the ghostly lights and apparition. These sort of events don't stay quiet in small townships. Stories spread fast often not ending up like they started. Every so often this urban legend makes a comeback with a number to people tempting fate and poking the ghost rider.             A memorial to Dale Dickens on the Lemon Tree Passage Road / Pic: Robert Mckell Source:The Daily Telegraph The  Lemon Tree Passage ghost  f...

Diary of a Ghost Hunter - The Wallacia Hotel

We were given the opportunity of staying overnight at the Wallachia Hotel in Western Sydney. The hotelwas officially opened on December 3rd 1937. During the Second World War the hotel was used as the Army headquarters for radiopyhysics. I had never been to the Wallacia Hotel before, but, my ghost hunting gal pal Anne, had been there about 5 years ago with a group of Paranormal Investigators that she was working with at the time. We arrived and we were greeted by Craig, the night manager, who welcomed us with open arms.  Craig recognised Anne from the last time she had visited.  Anne asked whether any spooky things had been happening over the last few years. Craig said that he always thought that there was something a little bit weird going on late at night. Over the last few months everything had changed as the Hotel had been very much affected by the COVID lock downs This was a huge hotel with quite an interesting history even though in the whole scheme of things the h...

Headless Ghost Story from Port Stephens

Headless  Ghost. A N.S.W. Mystery. A correspondent writes to a  Sydney paper : — Many years ago a retired sea captain built a large house in  a lonely spot at the junction of Limeburners' Creek and Karuah River (Port Stephens), and therein reared a large family, After the old dad' went west,' most of the family being married, the house was taken by a fisherman with a large family.   At night they were disturbed by footsteps, doors opening and shutting, crockery rattling and on moonlight nights the figure of a woman without a bead would be observed. As three fierce dogs were kept, no stranger could approach unmolested. On one occasion one of the sons fired point- blank at the figure, without effect. The fisherman's family were away, and the house remained closed. One night some young fellows from Karuah were fishing close by.   A storm coming on they took refuge in the empty house. They propped a log against the door, and lo,  ...
