Finally, yes, finally I put my butt on a plane and have headed off to Ireland with Anne for a much needed break away and to do more filming for YouTube.
Do you enjoy flying?
I enjoy flying at take off, meal times and when I've landed - the hours in between, not so much.
We did our first leg from Sydney to Dubai which took 14 hours and it was gruelling. The plane was packed and the seats were very uncomfortable for an Emirates plane. Then a whirlwind run through Dubai airport to get the connecting flight to Dublin.
This was another 7 hours and let's say you REALLY understand just how far Australia is away from everywhere else on those long haul flights.
But we arrived safely, got our first coffee at the airport, got the hire car and a SIM card and we took off to our first stay 40 minutes out of Dublin as we just could not afford the prices of Dublin hotels.
We stayed in Sallins which is a glorious spot with a canal and a few pubs, a huge Tesco and Lidl and a Polish supermarket.
We did not want to go out for tea so headed to Tesco for Soda bread, Irish butter, strawberries and dessert.
Pure happiness.
Clara Lodge must have once been a horse stud but now it is owned by a retired Pub owner and his wife.
The 'lodge' is just a Bed and Breakfast in a converted house barn but, its totally new with all the mod cons and reasonably priced.
You enter through the gates and drive down a long beautifully manicured driveway and past the main house where the owners live and down the back is the B and B.
Its quiet and delightfully comfortable.
We decided to stay up until we could no longer keep our eyes open which was still pretty early and then just gave up and went into a deep sleep.
We woke up at 4am.
What to do?
Make coffee and eat soda bread with butter.
And today we are going into Dublin and heading on a guided tour of Glasnevin Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Dublin and the biggest.
I am looking forward to how interesting this will be.
I cannot lie, I'm tired but that's to be expected. I should feel better in another day or two. Anne has got some hay fever happening but we are just being supremely lazy at the moment because we just deserve to be.
More best bits of our journey coming up!!
Love from Anne and Renata xxxx
